For and Against Vampires
Vampires want to take over the world
- American Vampire League. Vampires used to be people too. Depending on their age, they still have an attachment to very human emotions and memories. Vampires do live by some different rules, but they also live by many of the same rules/values that living humans do. There are probably millions of regular humans that want to take over the world too.
- Fellowship of the Sun. Vampires live by completely different rules than humans do. They are immoral and have the power and strength to take over -- even in small numbers. Vamps are inherently immoral because they do not operate from a moral code, think of law not as something to protect minorities against the will of the majority but only in terms of retaining possessions.
Vampires have the power and strength to take over
- American Vampire League. If this were true, why didn't they take over long ago? What would be the point for or benefit from "taking over" that would even amount to a worthy gain? If vampires are in control, why are they suffering and having to hide themselves from the cruelty of man?
- Fellowship of the Sun. Who's to say they're not already running things, just from behind the scenes? They have the money, time and powers to be completely incognito.
Vampires can live without human blood by drinking Tru Blood
- American Vampire League. Humans no longer need to fear Vampires now that they have a healthy, safe synthetic alternative. If a vamp had enough synthetic blood to satisfy their nutritional needs, there would be no predictable risk of hungry vamps attacking humans.
- Fellowship of the Sun. An alternative is just that, and there's nothing stopping vampires from slaughtering humans to get their fill of their main source of unsavory sustenance.
Vampires and humans can coexist
- American Vampire League. Well. Thus far, vampires and humans have coexisted for a very long time. It is a fact and not a "for" or "against" situation.
- Fellowship of the Sun. Technically speaking, vampires and humans had to coexist: humans are both food and posterity for vampires. However, posterity is overrated when you live forever and with the invention of "true blood," humans are looking like nothing more than a threat.
Vampires will always be the minority
- American Vampire League. This is and always will be true, the old reason was if they made everyone a vampire they would starve, now with the invention of Tru Blood they don't even need to feed off humans so there will be no increase of vampires.
- Fellowship of the Sun. This blood alternative has taken away the only incentive not to turn everyone. If they can't get what they want politically in a minority vote, why wouldn't they seek to change it into a majority vote by eliminating their opposition by force by either killing them or turning them into a vampire?
Vampirism is a virus
- American Vampire League. No one is sure of the origins of vampirism. Surely, however, vampirism is more closely related to such natural phenomena as a virus or some other pathogen, rather than any supernatural occurrence. It is true that vampires suffer from rare forms of anemia and photo-sensitivity, and at the same time other physical characteristics may be enhanced, much in the same way that someone who is blind experiences an enhanced state of hearing. The bottom line is that vampires are intelligent and rational beings, who were once human in the traditional sense, and are still very much alive and deserve to enjoy the same freedoms and opportunities as everyone else.
- Fellowship of the Sun. Vampirism is not a virus. Their bodies are confirmed dead. How the corpses animate themselves is unnatural and supernatural. There is absolutely no evidence of any viral strain, or we'd be pumping all of our funds into an anti-virus.
When did vampires first appear?
- American Vampire League. As long as humans have been around, so have vampires. In a weird way, they feed off of each other; you can not have one with out the other. It is all a matter of balance. Nothing can exist without its opposite and its equal. There must always be the weaker and the stronger, otherwise the order of things would fall apart.
- Fellowship of the Sun. Humans do not feed off vamps and you can have humans without vamps. it is not a symbiotic relationship but a parasitic one.
Humanity has always been looking for the key to Eternal Life
- American Vampire League. Vampires started human, and retain their heart and memories as well as their life (after death.) Provided they are not attacked, staked, or exposed to the sun, vampires live forever, a goal man has striven and sought for many a century. All things created are creatures of God, and if He deems vampires worthy of living in the world that He created, then they are only natural.
- Fellowship of the Sun. Eternal life is to be sought in Heaven, not on Earth by paying blood-sacrifice and watching the undead walk amongst us. Unnatural evil is not the way to eternal life that man was seeking.
Vampires are blood thirsty killers
- American Vampire League. Not all vampires are 'blood thirsty killers.' What about mortal serial killers such as Jeffrey Dahmer or Hannibal Lecter? Modern technology has made it possible to interact with humans, regain our humanity, and live in harmony. Whatever happened to the famous feeling of Segregation Never...integration now?
- Fellowship of the Sun. Evil has always disguised itself in beauty. These abnormal, amoral animals are a blight to mankind, and a blemish in the face of all which is holy. They will use any means necessary, be it seduction, force or deceit, to get what they want: killing for human blood.
Vampires are individuals who think and feel just as anybody else
- American Vampire League. Not everyone chooses to do wrong or be "evil." Therefore, not all vampires are bad either. Just as there are those whites, blacks, and Asians who give all of their own a bad reputation, there are also bad vampires. However, we cannot take away our God given free will from anyone!
- Fellowship of the Sun. Vampires are bad, soul less creatures who will take down anyone who gets in their way.
